The most popular thing to do Albuquerque for the 4th of July is the Freedom 4th celebration, which is an all-ages event that takes place at Balloon Fiesta Park. The 2019 Freedom 4th celebration in Albuquerque features a great lineup of performers: Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will be headlining at 7:45 pm, but music performances start at 4 pm with Tylor Brandon followed by Joseph General and High Vibration, as well as Sister Mary Mayhem. The 4th of July Ceremony itself starts at 7:35 pm, just before Nitty Gritty Dirt Band takes the stage for the main show.
Their performance will be followed by the biggest firework show in the state, so make sure to stay until 9:15 for the main spectacle! Local food vendors will be on site for the duration of the event and visitors can grab a drink at the Microbrew Garden, which overlooks the main stage. There will also be free activities for kids including a rock wall, face painting, a bounce house, and more.
If sports are more your thing, consider attending a home game at Albuquerque’s Isotopes Park, where the local minor league team will take on the Las Vegas Aviators. The game starts at 6:35 pm with early gates opening at 5 pm. Tickets start at $16 and can be purchased online. This 4th of July game will feature a fireworks show, baseball game at Isotope park including food and drink vendors, a Fun Zone with carnival-style attractions for the kids, and a variety of seating options to suit your needs.
Runners and morning people can come together this 4th of July to participate in the annual 4 Miles on the 4th race. Early registration fees are $35 dollars for adults.
