Satna Fe is a beautiful city year-round, but it becomes especially picturesque during the fall. Vibrant yellow, red, and orange hues paint a hauntingly beautiful portrait of this high desert city. Living here during the Autumn months is a privilege, but not just because of the area’s natural beauty. There’s always so much to do in and around the city, and the fall events Santa Fe offers this year look like a lot of fun!
Fall Events Santa Fe 2018
You can’t talk about Santa Fe events in October without including Halloween activities! Whether you’re looking for some wholesome family fun at a pumpkin patch, or you’d rather be chased by ravenous zombies through a nerf-style obstacle course, we’ve got the scoop on the best fall events Santa Fe.
Where: El Rancho De Las Golondrinas
When: Saturday, October 27, 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Come to celebrate the rich cultural history of the Santa Fe region through candle-lit historical vignettes. Enjoy a cup of fresh, locally-produced hot apple cider and warm up next to the luminarias while learning about local legends from the spirits themselves. New Mexico’s first governor William C. McDonald, Bishop Jean Baptiste Lamy, and even Billy the Kid will grace the audience with their ghostly presence and pass their tales on for the next generation.
Performances by the Red Turtle Dance Group will be featured between vignettes, and there will be a special telling of the tragic tale of La Llorona, The Weeping Woman. Kids will be able to make their own spooky tin medallions, and face painting will be available throughout the evening. Don’t miss out one of the most fascinating fall events Santa Fe.
Where: Santa Ana Star Center, Rio Rancho
When: October 1 – October 31
Just under an hour outside of Santa Fe, The Pumpkin Patch has everything that you and your kids could possibly want for a pre-Halloween good time. In fact, with this many activities available, picking out your pumpkin will almost be an afterthought! For only $4 admission you get access to:

- 20’x40′ corn pit
And for the little ones:

The Pumpkin Patch even offers a full petting zoo on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as a paintball target arena for the adults who want a little more excitement! Hundreds of pumpkins and gourds of all shapes, sizes, and colors are available for purchase, as well as fall decor items like corn stalks, hay bales, and corn bundles. This is certainly going to be one of the best Santa Fe events in October.
Where: Santa Fe Place
When: October 18 – October 31
Let’s get the disclaimer out of the way now: This event is NOT for children or the faint-hearted. That being said, if you’ve ever watched a zombie movie and thought, “Boy, that looks like fun,” then this adventure is right up your alley.
Teams of six will be armed with foam guns and get to fight their way through hordes of brain-eating zombies on their way to discovering the ultimate weapon that can save humanity. This experience is one part live-action video game, one part immersive theatre, and one part haunted house for the ultimate Halloween scarefest!
Each session takes about 45 minutes, so be prepared for extended physical activity. Admission is $20 for adults and $15 for brave souls under the age of 16. This is an extremely popular event, so get your tickets ahead of time, and get ready for the fright of your life!
Where: Launch field on Albright Street, behind Taos Country Court House
When: Saturday and Sunday, October 27th – 28th, begins at 7:30 am
Not all of the fun fall events Santa Fe are centered around Halloween though. For a spectacle unlike any you’ve seen before, consider visiting this year’s Taos Mountain Balloon Rally. Every year on the last weekend of October, the skies around this scenic village fill with multi-colored hot air balloons for a rally around the high country. Pilots and enthusiasts from around the country come each year to help put on this event, and it’s staffed and paid for by volunteers and local sponsors.
This is a wonderful activity for the whole family. Kids will have the opportunity to speak to the pilots and get up-close and personal with the balloons before takeoff. This is the 36th annual Taos Mountain Balloon Rally, so make sure to check out this spectacular community event.
From all of us here at Ortega’s Appliance Service, we hope you have a great time at the amazing fall events Santa Fe!
